The European private equity market remained flat in early 2010, according to figures from the latest unquote" Private Equity Barometer.
In the latest unquote" video, John Arney of Candover Partners suggests these statistics demonstrate the private equity industry is 'slowly' rising out the doldrums of early 2009. "We're seeing a pipeline dominated by secondary buyouts," he notes.
Arney believes the "trickle of primary activity" is being driven by a combination of "high asset valuations and scarce, expensive debt."
