
Bregal Freshstream closes maiden fund on €600m
Bregal Freshstream has closed its maiden fund on €600m, backed solely by Bregal Investments.
The GP will focus on mid-market investments and plans to commit between €30-100m of equity per investment, with a geographic focus on the UK and Benelux markets.
The focus will be on buyouts, though the fund might also invest in debt and debt-like instruments.
Freshstream stated that the fund has a high degree of flexibility as to investment hold period and the capital structure of prospective portfolio companies.
Freshstream's team, which currently consists of eleven people, has prior experience in industries such as healthcare, general manufacturing and financial services as well as the aerospace, retail, chemicals, building products and TMT markets.

Bregal Freshstream will be led by managing partner Patrick Smulders, who is a former co-founder of private equity firm Doughty Hanson, and chief investment officer Rayhan Davis, a former managing director and member of the founding team of TowerBrook.
