US VC Cottonwood opens Dutch base, launches fund
US venture capital firm Cottonwood Technology Funds has opened its first European office, located in the Twente region in the east of the Netherlands, with a new Netherlands-focused fund.
The firm, which exclusively invests seed and early-stage funding in technology start-ups, currently has €10m in capital to deploy in the Netherlands and the US.
The VC is hoping to bring this amount up to €30m this year. University of Twente, PPM Oost, the Twente regional government and Thales Nederland have already invested in the Cottonwood Technology Fund.
The fund will make two to three investments per year over a four-year period. The average equity ticket will sit within the range of €2-3m.
Cottonwood already has offices located in Santa Fe and Albuquerque in New Mexico, US. Partner Ray Quintana will head up the firm's new Dutch office.
