
Serena and Alven in €5m round for TextMaster
French venture capital firm Serena Capital has led a €5m funding round for TextMaster a Belgian provider of translation, proofreading and web content writing services.
Existing backer Alven Capital also took part in the round, which will fund the international expansion of the business, with a particular focus on the German and UK market.
The fresh capital will also fund research and development activities.
The deal marks Serena's fourth investment of 2015. Most recently, it took part in a €15m round for portfolio company Augure alongside Seventure, BPI France and other existing backers.
Previous funding
In November 2012, TextMaster secured €1.64m in a funding round led by Alven with participation from several business angels, namely OLX founder Fabrice Grinda, Fotolia founder Thibaud Elzière and Empruntis founder Geoffroy Bragadir.
Two years later, Alven led a €1m second round of funding for the business, with Belgian incubator eFounders and investor Cédric Siré also taking part.

Founded in 2011, TextMaster is headquartered in Brussels with additional offices in Italy, France, Hong Kong and the US.
The company operates an online network of freelance writers and translators to provide professional translation, proofreading and web content writing services for companies. It has a headcount of 25 and claims to offer translation into 40 different languages - relevant for more than 50 countries.
