Cinven puts Telekom Slovenije deal on hold
Cinven has withdrawn its bid for Slovenian national telecommunications operator Telekom Slovenije following regulatory uncertainty related to a Macedonian merger, the GP has said.
Just days after Cinven said it was still awaiting approval from the Slovenian government for the GP's offer to buy 73% of Telekom, the GP has said it will not pursue the privatisation deal further at this time.
In a press release, Cinven said: "A solution to deal with the uncertainty around the merger of Telekom Slovenije's Macedonian operations could not be agreed with Slovenian Sovereign Holding," adding that "the conditions to proceed with the transaction now are not in place".
The GP had amended its initial offer for Telekom following delays in regulatory approval of the company's merger with One in Macedonia and acquisition of Debitel in Slovenia.
Cinven said it remained interested in the deal and was open to re-evaluating a bid once an outcome for the Macedonian merger has been settled.
