
Index and Earlybird invest $26m in Socialbakers
Index Ventures has led a $26m series-C funding round for Socialbakers, a Czech Republic-based social analytics company, alongside existing backer Earlybird Venture Capital.
The substantial capital injection will be used by Socialbakers to develop new products, as well as strengthen its sales and marketing efforts in the US.
The funding will also be used to increase the company's workforce to more than 400 throughout 2014, with plans for a total of 30 languages to be spoken by Socialbakers employees. The business has already doubled its headcount in the last 12 months.
Previous funding
In September 2011, Earlybird led a $2m early-stage funding round for Socialbakers.
This was followed by a further capital injection of $6m in November 2012. Index led the round, which saw Earlybird contribute $2.3m.
Company
Founded in 2009, Socialbakers is headquartered in Prague with additional offices in New York, London, Singapore, Paris and Munich. The company currently employs 300 staff and claims its revenues tripled last year.
Socialbakers provides a social media analytics software-as-a-service (SaaS) platform, designed to allow brands to measure and compare the success of social media marketing campaigns.
The company claims to garner one million visits on a monthly basis and has 1,800 clients across 100 countries, including the addition of 1,000 new customers in the last 12 months. Clients include Samsung, Disney, Discovery and Universal.

Jan Rezab is the CEO of Socialbakers. Earlybird partner Jason Whitmire manages the firm's investment in the company and has a seat on Socialbakers' board of directors, according to unquote" data. Jan Hammer is a partner at Index.
