EBRD exits Pehart to Abris
Mid-market Polish fund Abris Capital Partners has acquired Romanian tissue paper production group Pehart from the European Bank For Reconstruction and Development (EBRD).
The deal is subject to approval by Romanian anti-monopoly authorities and will see Pehart open a fourth factory in the country by the end of 2015, with support from a state aid contribution.
For the EBRD, the exit comes six years after it first backed Pehart with a €6m capital injection in June 2009, and will see the bank sell its entire stake.
Company
Bucharest-headquartered Pehart is an independent paper business producing tissues, toilet paper, kitchen towels and napkins under its own brands.
The company exports the majority of its products to central and south-eastern Europe. Pehart's history dates back to 1837, but the company's current form took shape in 2005.
People
Cezar Scarlat is partner and head of Abris Capital Parnters Romania. Director Frederic Lucenet represented the EBRD. Ioan Tecar is president of the Pehart group.
