Idinvest bolsters debt and VC teams with two hires

French GP Idinvest Partners has added to its private debt team with new investment director Verena Romero Frychel (pictured above), and appointed Guillaume Durao to the same position in the VC and growth team.
Romero Frychel began her career with two successive internships at Deutsche Bank and Sal Oppenheim. After six months in Madrid at IKB Deutsche Industriebank and Bankinter, she joined Goldman Sachs' bank debt portfolio group in London.
In June 2011, she left her analyst role at the investment bank and became an associate within BNP Paribas's leveraged finance team in Paris. Prior to joining Idinvest, she was CFO at Mexico-headquartered Fase Investment Managers.
Romero Frychel's appointment within Idinvest's private debt team comes three months after the GP concluded fundraising for its latest debt vehicle. In late June, Idinvest Private Debt III held a final close on €400m, far above its initial €300m target. The firm recently provided unitranche in support of a Omnes Capital-backed MBO for software developer Bimedia.
Durao (pictured right) will oversee the firm's investments in digital businesses in France and abroad. His hire follows Idinvest's recent backing of a $45m series-D for software developer Scality amid IPO plans for the company.
Durao first started as an analyst within Crédit Agricole's corporate finance arm, which he left in 2004 after being recruited by Bryan Garnier & Co. As the bank's vice-president for corporate finance activities, he worked on more than 30 transactions, with a focus on e-commerce and software-as-a-service companies. In September 2011, he joined Luxembourg VC Mangrove Capital Partners as principal.
Idinvest's latest hires come three months after unquote" learned that partner Jean-Philippe Boige was to leave the GP to set up a firm of his own, targeting both GPs and LPs in need of placement and advisory services.
