Alpha to acquire two brands from PPR group
Alpha has been granted exclusivity to buy French clothing brands Vertbaudet and Cyrillus from Redcats - a PPR subsidiary - for a total enterprise value of €119m.
The GP invested via the Alpha Private Equity Fund 6 vehicle, which was launched in early 2011 with a €750m target. The fund held a €500m first close in mid-2011.
The disposal of its children- and family-focused assets will allow PPR to better focus on its luxury, sports and lifestyle brands.
The transaction is still subject to informing and consulting with employee representative bodies and to the approval of the competition authorities.
Company
Founded in 1977, Cyrillus designs high-end clothing items for men, women and children. Established around 50 years ago, Vertbaudet meanwhile focuses exclusively on children - the brand is present in 12 coutries via retail stores and a dedicated website.
