
Polaris backs Skånska Byggvaror
Polaris Private Equity has acquired a majority shareholding in Swedish DIY retailer Skånska Byggvaror.
The stake was acquired from previous owners, the Blomkvist family, who will remain present in the management team. The value of the transaction has not been disclosed.
Partner Peter Ankerst stated that Polaris plans to expand the business to international markets and increase its visibility in Sweden. It intends to back the company by expanding its product offering and number of showrooms.

Skånska Byggvaror sells DIY products to the Swedish market. The company first went online in 1998 and has over the years replaced its mail order service with an e-commerce solution. Its revenue has grown from SEK 336m in 2008 to around SEK 430m in 2011.
Based in Helsingborg, Sweden, the company employs around 100 staff. It was founded by a member of the Blomkvist family in 1965 and managed by Anders Blomkvist since 2003.

Partner Peter Ankerst worked on the deal for Polaris. Anders Blomkvist is CEO of Skånska Byggvaror and will remain in his position.
