
GMT buys Seagull AS
GMT Communications Partners has acquired Seagull AS, a Norwegian provider of training systems for seafarers, in a management buyout.
GMT usually targets businesses valued at up to €500m, with a sweet spot of €100-250m. It intends to drive growth by extending investments in training content and customer support, and will continue to expand the business within shipping and other specialist sectors.
Company
Established in 1996, Seagull offers training systems for use on vessels, in offices and maritime colleges, as well as online. Its solutions notably cover the areas of regulation and compliance.
The Norway-based business also operates offices in Germany, Greece, Japan, Poland, Singapore and the UK.
People
Natalie Tydeman led the deal for GMT and will join the company's board following the transaction's completion. Oscar Johansen is the founder and chairman of Seagull.
