Index Ventures leads €10m round for Trustpilot
Index Ventures and existing investors Seed Capital Denmark and Northzone have invested €10m in Danish company review provider Trustpilot.
The funding will be used to work towards global expansion.
Trustpilot was first backed by Seed in 2010 and closed its series-A round in September 2011 with support from Northzone and Seed. In total, the business has received €5m from investors so far.
The investment follows Index's recent investments in the Nordic market including iZettle, Rebtel, Milestone Systems and Skype.
Company
Trustpilot was established by CEO Peter Mühlmann in Denmark in 2007. The service has generated six million reviews of 100,000 individual merchants to date. It is present in the UK, France, Germany, the Netherlands, Italy and is currently trying to enter the US market.
Trustpilot employs a team of 100 in its Copenhagen headquarters. The company enables two ways to source reviews: through review invitations that are sent directly to online consumers by Trustpilot, and through end-user contributions on the Trustpilot portal. Businesses using the service can back-track customer reviews to the transactions on which the reviews are based.
