Blackstone appoints new MD for Iberia
Blackstone has appointed Inaki Echave as managing director, with a primary focus on Spain and Portugal.
Echave was previously a partner at Iberian buyout house Magnum Capital and a director in the pan-European buyout team at 3i.
Prior to joining 3i, he worked for JP Morgan Partners in Madrid and London and as a strategic consultant at Bain & Company.
Echave will work alongside Claudio Boada, Blackstone's chairman for Iberia.
In 2010, Blackstone teamed up with Spanish GP N+1 to complete the buyout of packaging containers firm Mivisa from CVC, beating rival bidders Bridgepoint, Carlyle, Cinven and Apollo. The deal was valued at €850-900m and is the most recent transaction recorded in Spain for the private equity giant.
