
HIG Capital appoints MD of new Italian office
HIG Capital has opened an office in Milan and appointed Raffaele Legnani as managing director to lead Italian operations.
Legnani is a former founding partner of Atlantis Partners, a special situations firm focused on the Italian mid-market. He was also a partner at London-based fund Stellican and previously worked in investment banking for Goldman Sachs in London.
HIG will focus on Italian companies with a turnover of more than €50m, providing both debt and equity. Majority and minority stakes will be targeted in Italian SMEs with plans to boost international expansion.
The GP is already considering several potential transactions in Italy.
HIG opened a Madrid office in 2012 and appointed Jaime Bergel to lead the firm's Spanish operations. Juan Barnechea, former managing director for European deal origination at Riverside, joined HIG's Madrid office in January this year as director.Around 6% of the firm's portfolio is based in Spain, according to unquote" data.
