
Fondo Italiano and EdRIP back Unitedcoatings Group
Fondo Italiano di Investiment and Edmond de Rothschild Investment Partners (EdRIP) have injected €20m into coatings company Unitedcoatings Group.
The investment combines equity and convertible loans. EdRIP invested through the vehicle Winch Capital 2, which closed on €250m in 2009 and is advised by Mast Capital Partners.
The investment, the thirtieth completed by Fondo Italiano, will support the expansion of the firm into the US and Europe.
Company
Founded in 1919 as a local paint and hardware store, Unitedcoatings Group began manufacturing paint in the 1920s and expanded into speciality coatings in the 1950s. The company now supplies protective coatings and roofing and architectural industrial products to the energy and biomedical sectors.
In 2011, the company reported a turnover in excess of €40m, 80% of which originated abroad. The firm employs around 300 members of staff at five plants in Italy and two in the US.
