HgCapital looking to sell Americana
HgCapital is reported to be looking for buyers for its portfolio company Americana Holdings, which owns fashion brands Bench and Hooch.
According to rumours, a German private equity buyer is among the interested parties. HgCapital has appointed Rothschild to advise on a possible sale and is thought to expect around £300m from bidders.
Manchester-based Americana was founded in 1998 and employs about 700 people. The company distributes its products in more than 30 stores across Europe, Canada, South Africa and the UK. Americana is said to have increased its turnover from £109.3m in 2009 to £121.6m in the following year and its EBITDA from £20.9m to £26.6m.
HgCapital acquired Americana in 2007 for £190m from ISIS Equity Partners.
