BDC-backed Lumison acquires Blue Square Data
Bridgepoint Development Capital (BDC) portfolio company Lumison has acquired UK data centres operator Blue Square Data for £22m.
BDC acquired a majority stake in IT service provider Lumison in 2010, in a transaction thought to be worth less than £25m. The private equity firm had planned to implement a buy-and-build strategy with Lumison from the start.
Additional equity funding for this latest transaction was provided by BDC; Lumison's incumbent bank HSBC extended existing facilities to provide further senior debt.
Blue Square Data operates data centres in Maidenhead and Milton Keynes. It aims to provide an environment with resilient power, cooling and network connectivity, as well as high levels of security, in which customers can locate their servers.
