3i in talks with Go Outdoors
UK buyout house 3i is one of several private equity firms currently in talks with Go Outdoors over a possible investment in the outdoor clothing and equipment retailer.
The company, whose chairman, John Lovering, has completed a number of deals in the private equity arena, is planning to sell a stake of approximately 20% in order to finance its plans to expand from 27 to 50 stores by the end of 2012. A sale of the business has been discounted however.
Accountancy firm PricewaterhouseCoopers is managing the sales process on behalf of the chain, which was founded in 1969.
Go Outdoors generated a turnover of £114.9m last year and more than tripled its EBITDA to £4.25m in 2009.
