Calculus hires new investment director

Calculus Capital has appointed Richard Moore as an investment director, the firm’s third new hire in the past nine months.
Moore joins Calculus from Citigroup, where he worked as head of the European technology investment banking team. Moore was with Citigroup for eight years.
Prior to joining Citigroup, Moore worked in an advisory role for the UK mid-cap sector at Flemings and subsequently at JP Morgan. He has also worked at Strata Technology Partners and KPMG.
Moore has experience mainly in leveraged buyouts in the UK, Europe, US and Asia, as well as M&A, public equity and debt offerings.
The appointment marks the GP's third new hire in the last nine months. In February, Calculus took on Roshan Puri as an investment associate. Prior to this, the firm hired former Rothschild director Rick Jones as an investment director in September last year.
Calculus typically invests £2-5m in UK companies via its EIS and VCT funds. Last week the firm took part in a £6.9m extension of biotechnology company Horizon Discovery's series-C round. Before that, Calculus invested £1.1m in popular Mexican restaurant chain Benito's Hat in May.
