Enterprise Ventures opens new Merseyside office
SME-focused venture firm Enterprise Ventures has opened a new office in Liverpool.
The site will provide a base for managers of The North West Fund for Venture Capital and The North West Fund for Mezzanine, both managed by the firm.
Enterprise Ventures also stated that it was looking to increase its involvement with Merseyside businesses and with the area's adviser community. The office will focus on technology and high-growth businesses and will pay particular attention to management break-outs.
The VC has existing bases in the region with operations currently run from offices in Manchester, Preston and Barnsley.
In February 2014, The North West Fund for Venture Capital made a six-figure capital commitment to Liverpool-based Fusion Implants, a manufacturer of veterinary implants using 3D printing technology.
The firm's other investments in the Merseyside area include a £1.625m investment in Chargepoint, a manufacturer of precision containment valves; multiple rounds of funding for foreign exchange and payment services specialist TransGlobal Payment Solutions and a £525,000 investment in employment data company JobsTheWord. It also joined fellow existing backers in providing expansion capital to Wirral-based molecular diagnostics company Biofortuna in August 2013.
