Sovereign portfolio company acquires Sage Care
Sovereign Capital portfolio company City & County Healthcare Group has completed the bolt-on acquisition of care provider for the elderly Sage Care in a transaction funded from the company’s existing balance sheet.
The transaction marks the group's eighth bolt-on since Sovereign acquired City & County in September 2009. The buy-and-build private equity house has committed total funding of £25m to the company to date, in part to fund a buy-and-build strategy. The acquisition of the domiciliary care provider for the elderly in London and South-East England will expand City & County's geographic footprint in the UK.
Dominic Dalli, Jonathan Kay and Ed Goddard led the deal for Sovereign. Following the acquisition, Sage Care general manager Jan Hiscutt will continue in her role and report to City & County's regional director Sue Wheeler.
The company has also acquired the West Berkshire and Leicester franchises of Guardian Homecare, a multi-branch domiciliary care business acquired by City & County from BUPA in September 2010.
