
Insight leads $62m round for Mimecast
Insight Venture Partners has led a $62m funding round for email services provider Mimecast.
Existing investor Dawn Capital also contributed to the round, which will underpin the development of the firm's service offering and expansion into US markets.
Shea & Company acted as the sole placement agent.
Previous funding
In 2008, Dawn injected around €6m into Mimecast. In 2010, Index Ventures and Dawn invested £13m in the firm in a series-B round of financing.
Company
Founded in 2003 and based in London, Mimecast operates a cloud-based platform to increase the capabilities of in-house email systems. The firm's platform enables bottomless storage, archiving, virus protection and continuous protected access.
Mimecast has offices in Europe, North America, Africa, the Middle East and the Channel Islands and has around 6,000 clients. Its profits rose by around 50% last year to approximately $50m.
