
3i's SLR bolts on US business
3i-backed environmental consultancy SLR Management has acquired US- and Canada-based HFP Acoustical Consultants.
In mid-2012, SLR secured a £50m war chest, with debt provided by Lloyds, to finance acquisition opportunities. This is the company's fourth bolt-on financed via the funding, following the acquisitions over the last 18 months of GSS Environmental in Australia, Synergistics Environmental Services in Africa and Strategic Engineering & Sciences in the US.
3i acquired its minority stake in SLR from Isis Equity Partners for £32.5m in May 2008. The company was valued at £100m at the time.
SLR is an international environmental consultancy headquartered in the UK. It operates offices in Australia, Canada, Ireland, Namibia, Singapore, South Africa, the UK and the US. It employs 1,000 staff.

Established in 1979, HFP provides acoustics and noise control consulting services. Its clients operate in the energy, commercial, industrial, infrastructure, mining and waste management sectors, among others.
The group recorded a CAD 4.6m turnover and CAD 700,000 EBITDA in 2013.
