Balderton leads $8m series-B for Top10
Balderton Capital has led a $8m series-B investment in Top10.com, a hotel recommendation website based in London.
Balderton's equity was drawn from Fund 4, with existing investors Accel Partners, Forward Venture Partners and Idealab also participating in the round.
The investment will allow Top10 to expand into new European territories this year and to add to its current team, with a focus on engineering talent.
So far in 2014, Balderton has led a $14m series-B round for fashion e-commerce site Lyst, a $7m series-B round for B2B online direct debit platform GoCardless and a £1.3m seed funding round for carwow, an online service provider for the purchase of new cars.
The GP was attracted by Top10's simplified take on the hotel booking service as well as its management's entrepreneurial track record.
Previous funding
In September 2011, Top10 raised $3.5m from Accel, Idealab, Forward Venture and Shakil Khan.
Company
Top10 aims to simplify the online hotel booking experience by aggregating information from existing services including Foursquare, Google Street View, Expedia and Booking.com. It currently generates $1m of hotel bookings per month, with the company employing a team of 14 London-based staff.
People
Tom Leathes is co-founder and CEO of Top10. Daniel Waterhouse, a partner at Balderton, will join the company's board of directors.
