
Stefnir leads $98m series-D for Verne Global
Icelandic investment fund manager Stefnir has led a $98m series-D funding round for UK-based data center developer Verne Global.
The round also saw participation from existing investors including the Wellcome Trust, Novator Partners and General Catalyst.
Verne Global intends to fund the growth of its wholesale and co-location service offerings, as well as finance improvements for its data center design.
Stefnir is the investment arm of Iceland's Arion Bank. It invests across several asset classes, including private equity.

Founded in 2007 and based in London, Verne Global owns and operates a data center campus in Keflavik, Iceland that uses renewable energy and is entirely carbon neutral.
The company offers co-location and wholesale data center services, and has offices in London, Munich and Washington, DC.

Jeff Monroe is the CEO of Verne Global and Arnar Ragnarsson is a fund manager in Stefnir's alternative investments division.
