Electra's The Original Bowling Company strikes Bowlplex deal
Electra Private Equity's portfolio company The Original Bowling Company (TOBC) has bolted on UK tenpin bowling centre Bowlplex.
Following completion of the deal, TOBC will seek to refurbish Bowlplex's existing sites in order to replicate the products and services offered by Hollywood Bowl – the company's leading brand.
The transaction represents Electra's sixth deal in a year. Most recently, in December 2014, it invested £100m in the £225m buyout of TGI Friday.
Previous funding
Electra acquired CBPE Capital-backed TOBC in a deal valued at £91m in September 2014.
Company
Founded in 1976 and headquartered in Bournemouth, Bowlplex operates 17 tenpin bowling centres in leisure and retail parks across the UK.
People
Bill Priestley, a partner at Electra, led the deal alongside Ian Wood and Shakira Adigun-Boaye.
