BGF funds PPS's purchase of Alison Handling
Business Growth Fund (BGF) has injected £4.9m into UK transportation business PPS to finance the bolt-on of packaging company Alison Handling Services.
Besides financing the bolt-on, the funding package will also be used by PPS to expand its product range. Future acquisitions will also be considered.
The deal will add Alison Handling's premises in Lancashire to existing PPS sites in East Staffordshire and Grimsby. All Alison Handling employees will be retained by PPS, according to the business.
BGF has kept to its usual busy investment schedule so far in 2015, with two or three deals completed each month. Most recently, the investor injected £4.5m into Simworx, a designer of theme park attractions, and provided satellite and telecommunications company Broadband Satellite Services with £6.3m.

Based in Uttoxeter with a further facility in Grimsby, PPS was founded 13 years ago. It offers services including the delivery, collection, asset tracking and hygienic washing of plastic pallets and trays. PPS targets clients in the fresh produce, industrial, office moves and automotive sectors.
Based in Kirkham, Alison Handling provides new and used plastic boxes, containers and trays. The combined business will now employ 100 people.
