Proskauer Rose poaches three for funds team

Proskauer Rose has poached three private equity fund structuring professionals from rivals Kirkland & Ellis and SJ Berwin in recent days, in anticipation of increased fundraising activity.
unquote's sister title Legal Week has revealed two partners on SJ Berwin's City funds team, Nigel van Zyl and Oliver Rochman have left the firm to join Proskauer Rose.
Furthermore, Proskauer Rose today revealed it has also hired private funds partner Kate Simpson, formerly of Kirkland & Ellis, to its City funds team.
Proskauer Rose says the hires are intended to strengthen its fund structuring business at a time when many private equity firms will be looking to raise new vehicles.
David Tegeler, global co-head of private investment funds at Proskauer, said: "[Rochman, van Zyl and Simpson] bring a proven track record of success representing many of the most prominent private equity firms and investors in Europe, Asia and emerging markets, and that experience will be extremely valuable to our clients as we enter into a period of increased fundraising activity and a growing secondaries market, with regulatory changes looming on the horizon."
van Zyl had been a partner in the private funds group at SJ Berwin since 2007, with clients including Hg Capital and Hermes. Rochman became a partner at SJ Berwin earlier this year.
Simpson originally trained with SJ Berwin before becoming a partner at Kirkland & Ellis in 2008. Her past clients include CVC, Lion Capital and Palamon Capital Partners.
