
SPAIN/UK - Parques Reunidos buys parks in the UK
Candover-owned Parques Reunidos has wholly acquired the Lake District Coast Aquarium, The Blackpool Zoo and The Oceanarium Bournemouth for a total of EUR 15.3m (£ 10.4m).
With the new acquisitions, Parques Reunidos' portfolio now has 27 venues under management and should increase its turnover from EUR 191m in 2006 to EUR 260m in 2007. Parques Reunidos is headquartered in Madrid and is the third largest European operator of attraction parks. The group currently operates amusement parks, animal parks and water parks, across 7 countries – Spain, Italy, France, Belgium, UK, Norway and Argentina. These parks are well located and are generally the leading family attractions in the surrounding area. Earlier this year, Candover acquired closed its first deal since its establishment in Spain by acquiring Parques for around EUR 1bn.
