UK - Buffini made chairman of Permira
Damon Buffini is to move into a new role as chairman of Permira as the buyout house looks to grow its global presence.
Buffini's new role will see him focus on the overall strategy of the group, funding and developing new business, whilst handing over the responsibilities for the day-to-day running of the group to Tom Lister and Kurt Bjorklund. Lister currently manages the New York office whilst Bjorklund is head of Nordic operations. They will become co-managing partners.
The management changes are part of the move to a two-tiered structure, with a board and executive committee, which the firm believes is neccessary to break into new geographies by cultivating new relationships.
The desire to move into new markets was evident last month when Permira acquired a 20% stake in Chinese gaming business Galaxy.
