UK - Acton et al. invest £10m into Glasses Direct
Acton Capital Partners has led a £10m second round of funding for prescription glasses retailer Glasses Direct, alongside return backers Index Ventures and Highland Capital Partners.
Index Ventures and Highland Capital first supported the company in July 2007 with a £3.8m investment.
Glasses Direct, which is based in Wiltshire, sells prescription glasses online, allowing customers to purchase designer lenses at a discounted rate. Every order is reviewed by a licensed optician and is quality checked before shipment. The business stocks over 30 ranges of designer frames including Cavalli, Benetton, Vera Wang and Nicole Farhi.
The new capital will be used to further develop its UK technology, customer service, and marketing departments and expand the business into the US and European markets.
