
Blackstone promotes Baratta to head of global PE
Joe Baratta has been appointed as head of global private equity at Blackstone.
Baratta currently heads Blackstone's European private equity team. Following the promotion, he will be based in the New York office and will also join the firm's management committee.
Baratta joined Blackstone in 1998. He helped open the London office and establish the firm's European private equity business in 2001. He notably led the Merlin Entertainments, Center Parcs and Spirit Group investments.
Blackstone's latest vehicle, Blackstone Capital Partners VI, closed on $16bn in January – short of its previous effort, which closed on $22bn in 2007.
