
Lazard promotes Pigasse to global M&A head
Investment bank Lazard has promoted Matthieu Pigasse to global head of M&A and sovereign advisory, and has advanced Alexander Stern to CEO of its financial advisory business.
Pigasse has been CEO of Lazard France since 2009 – a role he will continue to hold following his promotion – and has led the investment bank's global sovereign advisory group since joining Lazard as managing director in 2002. Before joining the firm, Pigasse had previously held various positions in the French treasury and the French ministry for the economy.
Stern joined firm in 1994 and was named managing director in 2002. He has served as chief operating officer of Lazard since November 2008 and as global head of strategy since February 2006. Stern will remain COO of the group following his promotion.
Lazard operates in 43 cities across 27 countries in North America, Europe, Asia, Australia, as well as Central and South America.
