Balderton hires former Uber and Dropbox exec

Venture firm Balderton Capital has hired Lars Fjeldsoe-Nielsen as a general partner to work on early-stage investments.
A Danish national, Fjeldsoe-Nielsen has held roles at various technology companies in the US – most notably Uber and Dropbox – with a particular focus on mobile. While at Dropbox, he also served as an adviser to Whatsapp prior to the business being acquired by Facebook. Other businesses he has worked at include Voicesignal, Skyhook Wireless, Ness Technologies and T9 Tegic.
Fjeldsoe-Nielsen joins Balderton from his role at Uber and will lead early-stage investments in new businesses. He will also be involved in sharing his experience with other businesses in Balderton's portfolio.
In a statement, Fjeldsoe-Nielsen justified his decision to move back to Europe from Silicon Valley by the growing strength of European venture: "I believe mobile technology has changed the entrepreneurial eco-system and levels of aspiration in Europe, which will lead to an explosion of successful European startups playing on a global scale."
