Connect Ventures leads €1.2m round for The Cloakroom
Connect Ventures has led a €1.2m round for The Cloakroom, a Netherlands-based online personal shopping service.
The fresh capital will allow the company to open offices in other European countries and to develop a new online platform. Angel investors also took part in the round.
The Cloakroom is an online shopping service for men. It assigns personal shoppers to customers on the basis of information entered on its website. The customer is then sent individually curated fashion products in the post, returns unwanted items and is charged for those they keep.
Connect Ventures stated it was attracted by the high level of personalisation offered by The Cloakroom, by its rate of growth and by its ability to generate a profit after less than a year in business.
The VC recently joined a Balderton Capital-led $10m series-A funding round for Citymapper, the real-time transport information app developer. Its other previous investments include London-based fashion sales website Secretsales.com and Berlin-based music streaming service Soundcloud.
Company
Based in Amsterdam, The Cloakroom was founded in 2013 and has a headcount of 30. The company, which offers a personalised online shopping service, reports 30% month-on-month growth figures. It currently has partnerships with fashion brands Hugo Boss Tiger of Sweden and Tommy Hilfiger.
People
Kasper Brandi Petersen and Asbjørn Jørgensen are co-founders of The Cloakroom. Sitar Teli, a partner at Connect Ventures, led the deal.
