Inkef leads $4.5m series-A for Wercker
Dutch VC house Inkef Capital has led a $4.5m series-A for Amsterdam-headquartered software-as-a-service (SaaS) company Wercker alongside existing backer Notion Capital.
According to Wercker, the series-A brings capital raised since the company's inception in 2013 up to $7.5m. The funds will be used to improve the company's enterprise offering and boost its commercial team via new hires.
The round comes eight months after the SaaS specialist set up a local development offer and nine months after the release of its automated container management platform alongside peer Docker. Over the next few months, Wercker plans to add improvements to the latter product.
The series-A featured capital from Notion Capital, a VC focusing on the B2B SaaS and cloud segments that held a $120m first close for its third fund in July 2015. The firm has been a shareholder of Wercker since October 2014, when it led a $2.4m seed round for the software developer.
As part of the series-A, Notion Capital vice-president Wayne Gibbins will become Wercker's chief commercial officer and work alongside founder and CEO Micha Hernández van Leuffen and chief technology officer Andy Smith.
Company
Founded in 2013, Wercker provides a SaaS allowing software developers to build and operate containerised applications and microservices more efficiently. Headquartered in Amsterdam, the business employs a 12-strong team of engineers and designers in the Netherlands and an additional office in San Francisco.
