Enterprise Investors injects €10.5m into oncology development
Polish private equity house Enterprise Investors has invested a further €10.5m in the development of radiotherapy centres in Poland.
Enterprise has now committed €25m to this medical segment. The recent investment came from Polish Enterprise Fund VII.
Enterprise's investment was driven by the firm's aim of improving the Polish radiotherapy market, which it believes requires considerable funding in order to reach European standards.
Company
The majority of the fresh capital will be used for the construction of a radiotherapy centre for cancer patients in Tomaszów Mazowiecki, which is being built alongside Tomaszów Health Center, a hospital owned by the local authority.
Remaining capital will be used to finance a radiotherapy centre, which opened in January 2014 at the University Centre for Ophthalmology and Oncology of the Silesian Medical University in Katowice. This centre treats patients despite not having a contract with the National Health Fund, therefore not receiving payment for its services.
Furthermore, the private equity firm and Nu-Med Group, in which Enterprise holds a minority stake, have merged their radiotherapy centres. The newly combined group will operate as Nu-Med Group and will comprise three radiotherapy centres in Elblag, Katowice and Tomaszów. Enterprise will hold 68% of the group, with Nu-Med picking up the remaining 32%.
