
Penta Investments acquires Vltava-Labe-Press
Media group Verlagsgruppe Passau has sold all shares of Czech newspaper publisher Vltava-Labe-Press (VLP) to Penta Investments.
The deal includes the country's largest regional paper Deník and the Novotisk printing house. Penta further acquired a 51% stake in Astrosat Media, which publishes weekly magazines and the Czech edition of National Geographic.
Penta states it sees VLP as a long-term investment and plans to strengthen Deník's position in the regional newspaper market.
The transaction is subject to approval by local competition authorities.
Company
Founded in 1994 and based in Prague, VLP is a merger of several publishing houses.
The company assumed control of all regional print media in the Czech Republic in 2001. It also publishes television guides and society magazines. It has more than 1,000 employees.

Zdeněk Kubát is the investment director of Penta. Simone Tucci-Diekmann is the managing director and shareholder of VLP.
