Highlander sells Poland's Medi-system to Orpea
US and Poland-based GP Highlander Partners has sold Polish care provider Medi-system to Euronext-listed French care services group Orpea.
Highlander will exit its 50% stake, with Orpea acquiring a further 40% from founder Marcin Zawadzki, who had held the other half of Medi-system's shares during the GP's ownership. Zawadzki will retain 10% of the company following the trade sale.
The deal provides Orpea with an established route into the Polish market, as well as a platform to support services it provides in other European markets, but which Medi-system does not yet provide.
Medi-system is the second CEE exit in quick succession for Highlander, which recently sold Polish power transformers manufacturer ZREW Transformatory.
Previous funding
Highlander acquired a 50% stake in Medi-system from founder Zawadzki in August 2011.
