Partners Group closes €1.5bn direct investment programme
Partners Group has closed its 2012 private equity direct investment programme on €1.5bn.
The programme is the third of its kind for Partners Group. Like the previous programmes, Partners Group Direct Investments 2012 will target companies across a range of sectors in the mid-market – a segment home to the best opportunities for finding reasonably priced assets, according to the investor. Staphan Schali, partner and head of private equity at Partners Group, believes the mid-market offers the most scope for value creation compared with the large-cap market.
During the fundraising period, the private equity team screened more than 1,600 companies and has so far made 10 investments. The programme is already one-third invested.
Investors in the programme include a mix of new and existing institutional investors such as public and corporate pension plans, endowment funds and foundations, insurance companies and financial institutions.
Unlike its debt programme, which closed on $800m in November last year, the direct investment fund will be deployed at Partners Group's discretion, rather than giving investors the option to request specific mandates.
