BlackFin opens new office in Frankfurt
Paris-based buyout firm BlackFin Capital Partners has opened an additional German office in Frankfurt am Main.
The financial-services-focused GP hopes to boost its penetration of the German speaking market. The firm's investment manager, Aloysius Von Mitschke-Collande, will lead the Frankfurt-based team as country head for Germany.
In 2013, the firm acquired the German online insurance and banking leads marketplace Finanzen.de through its 2009-vintage BlackFin Financial Service Fund. In the same year, the firm opened a new office in Brussels with the aim to expand across the Benelux region and in August 2015 acquired the Royal Bank of Scotland’s Luxembourg-based €28.5bn fund division.
More recently, the GP invested in Swiss financial software developer New Access Banking Software in October 2015 via its second vehicle, BlackFin Financial Services Fund II.
The GP currently manages two buyout vehicles, BlackFin Financial Services Fund and BlackFin Financial Services Fund II. The first fund held a final close on €220m in 2011, short of its €300m target, while the latter hit its €400m hard-cap in 2016. In June 2016, the firm launched its European fintech-focused venture capital fund, BlackFin VC Fund, with a €120m target.
