HTGF invests in water supply system
High-Tech Gründerfonds has invested €500,000 in water supply measuring system ZIM Plant Technology GmbH.
The deal was signed off as an early-stage investment at the end of 2010 but was only announced today.
ZIM has used the investment to develop the product and start selling.
It now plans to improve the product's technology and expand in international markets. The firm wants to develop a software as a service business model.
Company
ZIM Plant Technology was launched in December 2010 in Berlin where it employs 12 staff.
Its product measures the water supply for field plants and provides the data on the internet in real time.
So far 750 systems have been sold to farmers and researchers in Africa, Europe, Australia and South America.
The company now plans to link the sensors to actuators, so that watering is done automatically according to the needs of the plants. It will then charge its clients a monthly fee.
