Star Capital buys Globalways
Star Capital has acquired a majority stake in German IT business Globalways in which it plans to inject a further €60m of growth capital.
The company was acquired in an all-equity deal and the GP intends to infuse €60m of cash into the company in the future, for building a regional data centre business in Germany.
Peer Knauer, former CEO at telecommunications business Versatel, invested alongside Star Capital and the company's management and takes a seat on the board.
The deal was sourced on a proprietary basis and capital was provided by the Star III Fund. It is the second investment by the vehicle. In July this year, Star III acquired British laundry business Synergy Health Management Services for €50m.
Company
Globalways is a Stuttgart-based IT services and infrastructure business. It was founded in 2001 and its IT infrastructure offering includes housing, hosting and corporate networks.
