Cherry Ventures leads €4m funding round for Infarm
Cherry Ventures has led a €4m funding round for Berlin-based "urban farm" distributor Infarm.
The VC was joined in the round by Quadia, Localglobe, Atlantic Food Labs, Ideo, Demand Analytics and unnamed business angels.
Infarm has already entered an agreement with Germany's largest supermarket chain Edeka to install its modular farms in Edeka stores. With the new funding, it will target more supermarkets, restaurants, offices, warehouses and shopping malls in Berlin.
Company
Infarm was founded by Osnat Michaeli, Erez and Guy Galonska in 2013. It distributes modular farms with inbuilt sensor technology to optimise growing conditions. It will initially supply to Edeka stores with herb-growing facilities but has plans to provide other fresh produce in the future. The company currently employs 40 people.
