Coparion backs €2m seed round for Vehiculum
Cologne-based VC firm Coparion has backed a €2m seed financing round for Berlin-based car rental comparison service Vehiculum.
Insurance company Schneider Golling and Russian entrepreneur Oskar Hartmann also took part in the round.
The fresh capital will be used to expand the company's workforce from around 20 to more than 50.
Previous funding
In January 2017, the company announced that Michael Kern, a former marketing chief from Volkswagen, had invested a seven-figure sum in Vehiculum alongside other business angels.
Company
Vehiculum was founded in 2015 and is headquartered in Berlin. It develops comparison software for car-leasing contracts in Germany. Founder Lukas Steinhilber came up with the idea after attempting to take out a lease in 2014 and discovering that the market was almost entirely offline. Vehiculum arranged €150m worth of leasing contracts in 2016 and works with more than 100 partners including Audi, BMW and Volvo. It currently employs 20 people.
