Hélicéo raises €1.5m in first round of funding
French drone-maker Hélicéo, launched in August 2014, has raised €1.5m in a first round of funding including regional fund Sequoia Développement et Idée managed by French investment firm Siparex.
The round also involved regional investment fund Feed, which had previously invested at the seed stage.
The funds are aimed at helping Hélicéo to grow significantly, map out its industrialisation and recruit more staff.
Nantes-based Hélicéo plans to hire a additional staff by the end of the year, increasing its workforce to 30.
The startup will also look to expand internationally, aiming to open up branches in the UK, Germany and potentially the US in 2017.
Company
Launched in 2014 and based in Nantes, Hélicéo conceptualises and makes civil and industrial drones to help develop and enhance geomatics.
Hélicéo launched its two first products on the market in summer 2015 – Fox 4 and Fox 6, two vertical takeoff multirotor drones. The company expects a €1m turnover for 2016.
