Private equity firms eye SEK 2bn Swedish cinema deal
Swedish media and publishing group Bonnier has appointed Nordea to advise on the sale of the SF cinema chain, which could reportedly be worth up to SEK 2bn.
Both Scandinavian and international private equity firms could go on to purchase a stake in the target, media reports suggest. Sweden-based Ratos, which jointly owns business information services provider Bisnode with Bonnier Group, already counts Finnish cinema chain Finnkino among its portfolio companies.
Other private equity firms, such as Terra Firma, Doughty Hanson, Blackstone and BC Partners, also hold stakes or have shown interest in movie theatres and could be potential buyers.
The target runs around 40 theatres in Sweden and Norway and recorded revenues of SEK 1.4bn with a SEK 180m EBITDA in 2011.
