
Idinvest et al. back Grand Cru with €8.5m
Idinvest Partners, Qualcomm Ventures and Nokia Growth Partners have taken part in an €8.5m series-A funding round for Finnish game developer Grand Cru.
The new funding round brings the total amount raised by Grand Cru to €12.5m. Idinvest, an existing backer of the Finland-based company, led the round. Qualcomm and Nokia Growth Partners are both new investors in the business.
The fresh funding will be used to further develop the company's game, Supernauts, and to finance its impending launch on iOS.
Previous funding
Idinvest first backed Grand Cru with a €1.5m seed funding round in March 2012, according to unquote" data. The business has also reportedly received funding in the past from Lifeline Ventures, a Helsinki-based start-up accelerator.
Company
Founded in 2011, Grand Cru is based in Helsinki and currently employs 25 staff. The game developer is currently working on its flagship game, Supernauts, which is a mass-market, virtual world-building game for iOS.
People
Markus Pasula is Grand Cru's CEO and co-founder. Guillaume Lautour is a partner at Idinvest, while Walter Masalin is a principal at Nokia Growth Partners.
