Ratos' Bisnode picks up Debitor Registret
Swedish business-information firm Bisnode, a portfolio company of Ratos, has acquired Debitor Registret (DBR), a Danish credit information company.
DBR's operations will be immediately integrated with Bisnode Denmark. The acquisition gives Sweden-based Bisnode the ability to offer a comprehensive range of credit information services for both B2B and B2C customers, as well as a stronger presence in Denmark.
Following the deal, DBR's CEO Birger Baylund will take over as head of Bisnode's Danish operations and will also become a member of the Nordic management team. Hans Benn, who currently heads these operations, will remain in the organisation in a senior management role.
Ratos owns 70% of Bisnode, with Swedish family-owned Bonnier Group owning the remaining 30%. Ratos acquired its 70% stake in June 2005 when its portfolio company Infodata merged with Bonnier Business Information.
The GP considered a flotation of Bisnode in 2007, though plans were scrapped as the offering was not fully subscribed. In 2008, Ratos completed a refinancing of Bisnode, which provided the owners with a cash payment of approximately SEK 865m.
The firm bolted on German online search services company Wer liefert was? (WLW) from Seat Pagine Gialle for a total consideration of SEK 411m in 2008.
In 2012, Bisnode divested marketing solutions firm Baby DM Scandinavia as part of a programme to streamline its business and focus on its core offering.
