Maj Invest carves out TDC Hosting
Danish private equity manager Maj Invest Equity has carved out the IT infrastructure and hosting division of Danish legacy telco TDC as part of a management buyout.
The deal sees Maj Invest acquire 100% of the shares in TDC Hosting. Management will invest alongside Maj Invest following the carve-out.
The GP's latest vehicle, Maj Invest Equity 5 held a first close on DKK 1.6bn in October 2016 and is targeting DKK 1.9bn by final close, with a DKK 2.25bn hard-cap. According to Ian Simpson of placement agent Amala Partners, Maj Invest is expected to close the vehicle soon.
In a statement, the GP said its buyout of TDC Hosting was motivated by the asset's strong development opportunities driven by increasing demand for IT outsourcing, cloud computing and IT security services.
Vendor TDC was previously backed by private equity, having been acquired in a DKK 76bn attempted take-private by a consortium consisting of Apax Partners, Blackstone, KKR, Permira and Providence Equity Partners in February 2006. It remained listed throughout the consortium's ownership and was later exited through partial sales between 2010 and 2013.
Company
Headquartered in Århus, TDC Hosting is a provider of outsourced IT services, including hosting and IT infrastructure.
The company was founded in 2003 and operates its own data centres in Denmark. It employs a staff of 300, with offices in Århus and Copenhagen.
